A devoted wife and mother of two energetic boys, Kaitlin embodies the spirit of caring, hard work, and determination. The moment Kaitlin’s life took an unexpected turn was when she received the news from her breast surgeon, followed by her oncologist. The words “stage 4 triple-negative breast cancer” echoed in her mind, leaving her grappling with uncertainty and fear. It was a moment that changed everything for her and her family, as she tried to process the implications of the diagnosis. As she navigated through the emotional rollercoaster, Kaitlin found herself confronted with a heart-wrenching reality—the fear of missed memories and moments with her loved ones loomed heavily in her thoughts.
Kaitlin's treatment journey has been one of the most challenging experiences she’s ever faced, both physically and emotionally. The fatigue and nausea that often accompany her treatment days are reminders of the battle she is fighting. Yet, amidst the struggles, there have been rays of hope. After just six treatments, the significant shrinkage of her cancerous lymph nodes has provided Kaitlin with a renewed sense of optimism, reinforcing her belief that even on the hardest days, her body is responding positively to treatment. Each day, she strives to stay strong, not just for herself but for her husband and her two boys, focusing on the small victories that remind her of the fight she is in.
Learning to live with uncertainty has been Kaitlin's greatest challenge. The weight of cancer has transformed her outlook on life, and the fear of what lies ahead can often feel overwhelming. On particularly tough days, her thoughts drift to the years and cherished memories she still wishes to create with her family, fueling her determination to remain present.
Through it all, Kaitlin is fortunate to have an incredible support system. Her mom and sisters are her rock, providing laughter and positivity during the toughest moments. They remind her that it’s okay to have bad days and that vulnerability is a part of the journey. Kaitlin finds solace in spending quality time with her family, cooking and baking, reading, and biking whenever she can.
