Bringing Christmas Joy to Families Battling Cancer
Each December, the Fightstrong Foundation comes together to bring the warmth, comfort, and joy of Christmas to families whose holidays look a little different because of cancer. What began as a small effort to bring smiles to a few children has grown into one of our most meaningful annual traditions—uniting patients, families, volunteers, and supporters under one shared mission: to make the season brighter.
2022 to now
From One Gift to Many
What began as a single donation to brighten the pediatric unit at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey has evolved into something far greater—a Christmas celebration that brings true holiday joy to the families who need it most. Today, the Fightstrong Foundation partners directly with social workers from the Robert Wood Johnson hospital units to hand-select families facing the toughest battles, ensuring that every gift, every meal, and every moment of the day reaches those who deserve it most. What started as a simple act of giving has become a powerful reminder of what Christmas is really about—hope, love, and community coming together for those who need it most.
Get Involved
For the first time, we’re opening the opportunity for community members to personally shop for a family or an individual this Christmas.
- You’ll be matched with a patient or family in need and provided with their personalized wishlist.
- If you’re available, you’ll have the chance to meet your family in person at the event and watch them open their gifts.
- After the event, you’ll be reimbursed for your purchases by submitting receipts through our online reimbursement form.
- If you’re unable to attend but would still like to shop, please coordinate with Joseph and/or Michelle Nigro to arrange a gift drop-off or pickup prior to the event.

The Victory Foundation has contributed a personalized Victory Gift Package for every family, filled with clothing, motivational notes, and a gift card. Their thoughtfulness and creativity add a personal touch that reminds each family that they are seen, supported, and never fighting alone.
The Miter Foundation has generously donated $5,000 worth of items, including personally shopping for three families to ensure their holiday wishes come true. Their commitment to making a hands-on difference helps bring our mission to life in such a meaningful way.
Together, these partnerships allow us to spread even more hope, comfort, and Christmas joy to the families we serve.
