Jose

Meet Jose.

Jose’s journey is one marked by courage, faith, and a family’s unwavering hope in the face of uncertainty. His family immigrated from Honduras with dreams of building a better future, carrying with them deep love, determination, and the belief that hard work would open doors for their children. After three years of settling into life here, everything changed. In November 2024, Jose’s parents began a terrifying chapter when doctors discovered a cyst on his head. Within a week, further testing revealed devastating news—Jose was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. With fear and countless unanswered questions, his mom took him from specialist to specialist, holding tightly to faith while bracing for the unknown. On December 4, Jose was admitted to begin treatment, a moment that confirmed their reality and forever changed their family’s path.

Battling Lymphoblastic Lymphoma has not been easy. The diagnosis and treatment process brought emotional, physical, and financial strain, all while Jose’s mom continued navigating their immigration paperwork and the uncertainty of their family’s future. She shared that there were moments when the weight of everything felt unbearable, when she questioned whether she could keep going—but her faith carried her through. Their greatest hope has always been simple and powerful: to see Jose healthy again. Jose dreams of traveling one day, of returning to Honduras to see his grandparents, and of enjoying the simple joys of being a child—playing, laughing, and dreaming big alongside his sibling, Genesis. His parents dream of stability, education, and a safe, comfortable home where both children can grow and thrive.

One week before Jose’s birthday, his social worker reached out to us with a wish straight from Jose’s heart. Despite everything he was facing, Jose hoped for one simple thing—to celebrate his birthday at Dave & Buster’s with 15 of his friends. Battling a language barrier, our team worked closely with his family and social worker to make this wish a reality. Together, we successfully coordinated a birthday party at Dave & Buster’s that included food and unlimited games for Jose and all of his friends, celebrated on his actual birthday. For one unforgettable day, hospital visits and worries faded into the background, replaced by laughter, excitement, and the joy every child deserves.

Jose’s parents were overwhelmed with gratitude. His mom shared, “Good afternoon, I really want to thank you for having this party for my son, and I want to tell you that God bless you greatly. Thank you.” She went on to express how much this moment meant to their entire family, sharing that without support like this, moments of happiness during such a difficult journey would be nearly impossible. Jose’s story is one of resilience, faith, and hope—a powerful reminder that even in the hardest seasons, compassion and community can bring light.

Jose’s fight against Lymphoblastic Lymphoma is far from over, but his strength, smile, and spirit continue to inspire everyone around him. We are honored to stand beside Jose and his family, reminding them that they are never alone—and that their dreams, both big and small, still matter.

We love you buddy and we are praying for you! We cannot wait to see you grow up!
